Brandon King, CSA, CSFA | Chairman of the Board

Brandon King is currently serving as Chairman of the Board for GSSA. His medical career began in the United States Air Force in 1995, where he graduated from the Surgical Services program. While in the Air Force, he worked as a Surgical Tech, a Surgical Assistant, an EMT, a Personal Trainer and even as an Orthotist. For more than 20 years, Brandon has worked at several different hospitals across the country. His job responsibilities have differed from place to place, but he has always been directly involved with development and implementation of training programs within the operating room. Brandon is the owner at Olympian Surgical Assistants in Marietta, GA. Along with being a part of GSSA, Brandon also serves as on the Board of Directors for NSAA. He is honored to have this opportunity to once again serve his fellow Surgical Assistants. Brandon enjoys spending time with his two sons, Darias and Dominic, motorcycle riding and boating.
Liz Litner, CSFA | Board Member
Advanced Aesthetic Surgery
Medicine became Liz’s passion over 20 years ago, while working with surgeons in the wound care clinic, caring for burn patients and those with complex wounds. Wanting to be more involved with her patient’s outcomes, Liz became a surgical first assistant and now works with her husband, Tom Lintner, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon. In addition to her surgical career, Liz is very involved with legislation for licensure of all surgical assistants in Georgia. Liz is a graduate of Kennesaw State University and is a member of Association of Surgical Assistants and is an affiliate member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. When not caring for patients, Liz enjoys spending time with her family and sailing.
Wesley Mitchell, CSA | Board Member
Highland Surgical Assistants
Wesley L. Mitchell, Jr., is a graduate of Eastern Virginia Medical School’s Masters of Surgical Assisting program. He has been a member of NSAA since 2008. Wesley also serves on the Board of Directors of NSAA. He has held that position since 2016. He also serves as one of the Directors of the Clinical Advisory Board for the National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants. He is the owner of Highland Surgical Assistant, LLC. A surgical assistant firm that practice in the specialties of Bariatrics, General and Robotic surgery in Atlanta, Ga. Wesley Looks forward to serving on the board for Georgia Society of Surgical Assistants, and hopes to help the profession grow and create new opportunities for all Surgical Assistants.
Iliana Hawkins, CSA | Secretary
Crawford Plastic Surgery
Iliana Diaz Hawkins is a Surgical Assistant serving as a board member for GSSA. She received her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology from Longwood University in Farmville, Va. She is a graduate of the Eastern Virginia Medical School Master of Surgical Assistant program in Norfolk, Va. She has been an active member with NSAA since 2009 and has served as a regional ambassador to the South East Region since 2016. Over the past nine years, Iliana has gained valuable experiences as a practitioner in the surgical field, both in the hospital and private settings in the states of Virginia and Georgia. She is experienced in multiple surgical specialties including; but not limited to, Robotic technologies, General/Colorectal, OB/Gyn, Urology, Bariatric, Neuro, Ortho, and Plastics. Iliana is currently employed by Crawford Plastic Surgery and resides in Kennesaw, Georgia with her husband and two dogs.
Herb Cousin, CSFA | Treasurer
Owner/ Director, Oasis Surgical
Herb Cousin is the Owner/Director of the largest and fastest growing group of Surgical Assistants in the Metro Atlanta area. When he is not managing the business or in surgery he enjoys spending time with his lovely fiancé and his beautiful kids. Herb is a member of the Association of Surgical Assistants, the American College of Surgeons, the National Surgical Assistant Association and the Georgia Society of Surgical Assistants. Herb also sits on Meridian’s (Institute of Surgical Assistants) Advisory Board for 2018-2019.
